Elephant Parade

In the summer of 2025, I solo-travelled around thailand, and visited the ethical elephant sanctuary, Bangkok Elephant Park- I wanted to bring these fascinating creatures to life here at home, and so worked from pictures and videos I took of the elephants walking and playing around their environment. Since I was Five years old Ive taken to drawing families of animals and teddy bear, there is a childish wonder that a I feel comes out of us when gazing upon these creatures, that I felt reconnected too. I was also inspired by the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli in thir representation of trees and environment, incredible use of texture and mark making informed this piece and my process.
